Scientology and Muslim Volunteers Join Forces for Cleaner Streets in Padua
Padua, Italy — Environmental responsibility and intercultural cooperation came together during a volunteer initiative in Padua on 4 October 2026.
Scientology Volunteer Ministers worked alongside members of local Muslim, Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities to remove approximately 50 kilograms of waste from the Borgomagno neighbourhood.
The volunteers concentrated their efforts around the railway overpass, an area affected by recurring waste disposal.
The eu news this week project reflected a continuing pattern of joint neighbourhood cleanups involving different communities in Padua.
The October initiative followed earlier environmental projects in September involving volunteers from different communities.
Such practical initiatives demonstrate that shared civic responsibilities can bring communities together without requiring them to share the same religious convictions.
The Scientology Volunteer Ministers programme, established by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard in the 1970s, supports practical assistance and community service.
For Ivan Arjona, the Church of Scientology's representative to European and international institutions, the initiative reflects the importance of civic responsibility and mutual respect.
"Respect for different beliefs becomes especially meaningful when it is accompanied by cooperation," Arjona said.
The joint activities provide a practical example of how different communities can contribute to the same local objectives.
Across Europe, Church of Scientology organisations and their members support educational, humanitarian and community programmes, including environmental volunteering and human rights awareness.
